The design for this limited-edition scarf is drawn from photographer and artist Karen Bystedt’s iconic The Lost Warhols series, originating from her extraordinary 1982 portrait session with Andy Warhol at The Factory in New York. The photographs, rediscovered years later, have become the foundation for an evolving body of work in which Bystedt reimagines her original Warhol portraits through color, collaboration, and contemporary artistic interventions.
Translated into silk, Bystedt’s Warhol imagery takes on a new life as a wearable and collectible work of art. The scarf celebrates the unmistakable image of Warhol while reflecting Bystedt’s continuing exploration of photography, appropriation, transformation, and artistic collaboration across generations.
Crafted in luxurious silk and produced as a limited-edition collectible, this scarf is part of the LOOK UP Times Square artistic project helping raise funds to let the project continue to travel around the world, created to bring art beyond the gallery and into everyday life.
